My Sister-in-Law, After 52 Years, Etta Louise Johnson (Wilson), Texas

Joe, Etta, Karl, Patricia, Phyllis, Sally, Teri, Bessie, Jean, and Rainie, Easter, April 1961, 1709 Cheston Drive, Jacinto City, TX

OMG, what a find! I found this pic from my sister, Phyllis, I was just going through a lot of old pics just today March 7, 2019. Me and Etta were friends since childhood. Now, I have proof.

Sally Ann Frederick and Etta’s uncle, Albert George Junkert, June 1969, Corpus Christi, Nueces, Texas.

Brother, Garry “Gigi” Ellis Johnson, Sr. and Etta Louise Johnson Wilson, Aug. 14, 2015, Baytown, Harris, Texas. I went with Garry to see his sister in the nursing home. I never thought that it would be the last time that I would see her alive. Me and Garry wish that you, your mom, and Linda could be here to see us so happy after 52 years apart. We always wanted to be sisters or family. In those days, life was so much easier and not near as evil as it is today. Our neighbors did not have to lock their doors, and we called each other by Aunt, Uncle, or Miss.

God is good. I lost my home and truck to Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, then I lived in a hotel for 3 months. In February 2018, I lost my husband of 12 years. I was depressed and devastated. Garry had been widowed for 4 years. God put Garry back into my life when I really needed him. I prayed, and prayed for God to help me, and I know without a doubt, that He gave me back my first love, whom is now my last love.

I did not pray selfish prayers. I prayed for God’s will whatever it was. I thought that I would just be alone the rest of my life. In fact, I wondered why I was even alive or what my purpose was. Now, I know without a doubt, it was to be there for Garry and him for me. We are not alone. You never outgrow your need for love. We are both 65 now, but we think that we are 12 and 13. Our bodies are getting older, but our spirits are strong.

We miss you terribly but we must go on without you. Rest in peace until we meet again.

Sally Ann Frederick Tudor and Garry Ellis Johnson, Sr, Brownfield, Texas, April 14, 2018. God answered my prayers and brought us back together after 52 years. This is my favorite pic of us. It shows just how happy we are. I have never laughed so hard, after crying so hard for the nightmare year of 2017.

Dorothy had five children total.
One son, Lewis Gene Marshall (1942-2006), father: Richard Lewis Marshall.
She was a widow, in 1956, she was only 31, she and her children lived across the street from us at 1706 Cheston Drive, Jacinto City, Harris County, Texas 77029.
My family, the Jean & Leroy Frederick family lived across the street at 1709 Cheston Drive, Jacinto City, Harris, Texas. We lived there up until I was 15, in 1968, when my parents divorced. They both remarried, and mother moved to Wood Shadows in Houston, Texas while Daddy married and moved us to Dayton, Texas.

Married: Edward Leroy Johnson, Sr.

Children: (4)
Edward “Eddie” Leroy Johnson Jr., Linda Gayle Johnson (Ward), Garry Ellis Johnson, Sr, and Etta Louise Johnson (Wilson).

Etta Johnson Wilson & Sally Frederick Tudor

Etta Louise Johnson Wilson and Sally Ann Frederick Tudor, Baytown, Harris, Texas, 2009

Her daughter Etta and I were best friends = BFF. Dorothy’s husband, Edward Leroy Johnson Sr., died when Etta was seven weeks of age, in 1956, so I never knew him. Me and Etta went to Corpus Christi, Texas during the summer together for a week to stay with her Uncle Al Junkert. We loved it! We went to the beach, and ate whatever we wanted to. We played games and helped Al cook dinner together, whatever we choose to. Good times. We felt really special. Her Uncle Al Junkert was lonely, he had no children.

Dorothy was loved by all. She worked hard and supported her family of five on her own. Dorothy was good to all use kids on Cheston Drive, in Jacinto City, Harris, Texas. She was more like family than just a neighbor.

We called her “Aunt” Dorothy, even though we were not related by blood. Her door was always open to us kids. She didn’t lock her door. I miss all the good times we spent together playing cards and visiting, and all the slumber parties with Etta. I loved Aunt Dorothy just like my own Mother. Dorothy loved to listen to Marty Robbins and Ray Price. She worked at Dewey’s Food Store on Market Street for years.

I really miss our long talks, domino & card games, and all the good snacks Dorothy had for me when I came to visit, which was a lot! I loved it over there, Dorothy treated us kids like we were special. I never wanted to go home. I love you, Dorothy and miss you so much. You are gone but not forgotten. Love, the skinny, scrawny, insecure, little girl, that you made feel special and loved unconditionally, Sally Ann Frederick.

UPDATE: Dorothy’s daughter, Etta was my BFF, and her son Garry was my childhood sweetheart in 1966. We both married and lost touch with each other up until 2015 when Garry became widowed and looked me up on Facebook. I did not become a widow until 2018, but we stayed in touch and we went to see his sister in the nursing home in Baytown, Texas together in 2015. He told me that I was his girl. We never stopped dreaming about all the “what if’s”. In June 2018 we knew that we still loved each other, even after 52 years apart. I was so depressed in 2017 from losing my home and auto in Hurricane Harvey, and then I really bottomed out when I lost my husband in February 2018. I prayed continually for God’s will. God gave us another chance at love, and we both went for it. We are now husband and wife. He is 65 and me 64. OMG, his mother is my mother-in-law, and Etta and Linda are my sisters-in-law after all these years. I wish that she and Etta could be here to see how happy we are now together. God is good.

IMG_4060-ANIMATION.gif

Reunited with my first love from Jacinto City, Harris, Texas. Happy for the first time in years. We waited for 52 years. He is a widower and I am a widow. God has given us another chance to be happy. You never outgrow the need to be loved. God has answered our prayers. We are ecstatic!

Life happened and we both married others, but we were never out of each others thoughts. We never stopped loving each other. Garry told me, “Sally, you were my girl”. He was 13 and I was 12, and we knew that our love was something special back then.

God took our spouses, but God is good, and he placed our “first loves” back into our lives. Miracles do happen. I prayed for this kind of love all of my life, and finally God gave us each other to love. We got married on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Bay City, Matagorda, Texas.

Troms has been settled since the early stone age, and there are prehistoric rock carvings at several locations (for instance Ibestad and Balsfjord). These people made their living from hunting, fishing and gathering.

The first of the current ethnic groups to settle in the county were the Sami people, who inhabited Sapmi, an area much larger than today’s Nordland, Troms and Finnmark counties. Archeological evidence has shown that a Norseiron-based culture in the late Roman Iron Age (200–400 AD), reaches as far north as Karlsøy (near today’s Tromsø), but not further northeast.

The Norse with their iron and agriculture settled along the coast and in some of the larger fjords, while the Sami lived in the same fjord areas, usually just into the fjord and in the interior. From the 10th century, Norse settlements start to appear along the coast further north, reaching into what is today the county of Finnmark.

Southern and mid-Troms was a petty kingdom in the Viking age, and considered part of Hålogaland. Ottar from Hålogaland met King Alfred the Great around 890. The Viking leader Tore Hund had his seat at Bjarkøy. According to the sagas, Tore Hund speared King Olav Haraldsson at the Battle of Stiklestad. He also traded and fought in Bjarmaland, today the area of Arkhangelsk in northern Russia . Trondenes (today’s Harstad) was also a central Viking power centre, and seems to have been a gathering place. source: Wikipedia

Tromsø, a city in northern Norway, is a major cultural hub above the Arctic Circle. It’s famed as a viewing point for colorful Northern Lights that sometime light up the nighttime sky. The city’s historic center, on the island of Tromsø, is distinguished by its centuries-old wooden houses. The 1965 Arctic Cathedral, with its distinctive peaked roof and soaring stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline.
